Salary bands and workplace guides for MENA
Evidence-backed reporting on the forces changing working life—from AI and nationalisation to pay, trust and fair progression—alongside plain comparisons of the review platforms people rely on, worksawa included.
Start with pay
Most pay questions in the region come down to one thing: nobody publishes a range. UAE job adverts rarely carry one, and UAE wage rules govern how and when you are paid far more tightly than how much—there is still no universal statutory minimum wage covering expatriate employees. So salary transparency in the UAE and the wider Gulf has to be built from what employees report.
That is why we publish UAE and Saudi salary bands rather than a single average: a band shows the spread, survives a small sample, and cannot be traced back to one payslip. These four guides are the place to start if you are trying to work out whether an offer is normal.
- UAE salary bands: what they are, what the law covers, and how to read one
A practical guide to UAE salary bands and pay transparency: what a band is, what UAE wage rules actually require, and how to build a defensible range for your own role.
- Why MENA workers are looking beyond the headline salary
A practical look at package structure, living costs, job security and why one salary number rarely tells the whole story.
- How to read salary data on review sites without fooling yourself
Single figures mislead. What to check before you trust a posted salary for a MENA role—and why bands are safer.
- Cross-border hiring is quietly changing MENA pay expectations
Regional employers increasingly hire across borders. What that means for pay comparisons, contracts and career paths.
Official statistics, survey findings and our interpretation are kept distinct. We do not invent workplace data or treat one country’s rules as regional law.
What a band looks like here
Pay appears only as a range, only once enough people have reported the same role at the same employer, and always in the local currency of the country you are browsing. No figure is attached to a person, an author or an exact date.

Each country has its own currency, law and pay data. These guides never mix them.

A market-specific review platform is more useful than a global one. That is also why India's cannot simply be reused in the Gulf.
